News and Social Media need not be an echo chamber. Get involved. Read. And be read!

Share your news and stories as they happen, right there, in your home town. You write the news!

Got a newsworthy event to report? Got a community celebration to announce? Got a customer appreciation day to share? Got a guest speaker coming to your event? Got a sale to tease in the news? Got the recent hockey scores to publish? Got news?

Actively connect with like-minded people "just down the street" where you live.

Regularly self-publish announcements and events from your clubs, your teams, your businesses, your schools, your places of worship, your charities, and other social groups.

Real citizen journalism puts you back in control of the news and commentary in a modern world.

Members can write their own news stories for the Community News and join Social Media Groups hosted by their favourite local vendors, realtors, and restaurants.

You could be reading... well, you!

You could be reading your own stories, your children’s scores, your announcements, your friends' events, your workplace events, your business news, your town celebrations, your social group chat, and more in this self-publishing free press online news magazine that is focused on delivering your local news to you and yours.

How do I submit an article to the Community News?

With your Premium Member plan, your smartphone camera, and a newsworthy event in your community you have everything you need to submit your own news story via the "Got News?" form in your Member Area.

Your published news will be credited to you by name and will be available for all to read on The Rubicon Free Press Community News.

NOTE: All types of Premium Member plan holders may submit their non-advertising news to Community News.

In addition to posting in the Community News, Core and Plus plan members have their own custom spaces and social media tools to post advertising and communications.

The basic format of a Community News article: writing with purpose and brevity.

Good articles for Community News consist of three parts: an introduction with a one or two-sentence opening statement that identifies the subject of the article, a few body paragraphs that expand on the focus and tell you news and stories, and a concluding couple of sentences that summarize your overall article.

The Rubicon Free Press provides you with 300 words to write your article. You will most likely have 3 to 5 paragraphs. Each paragraph will have about 50 to 75 words. This will allow for 3 to 4 concise, but detailed sentences, per paragraph.

Add credibility and value to your article by including a quote from a reputable source, such as an eyewitness or professional on the scene.

Please keep in mind that accuracy and honesty are foundational to the journalistic integrity of The Rubicon Free Press.

Provide a well-framed 4:3 ratio landscape photo of the event (for example: 1,200 pixels wide x 900 pixels high).

Your smartphone camera set to 4:3 (landscape) and 12M pixel resolution setting will provide a great photo of your newsworthy event!

NOTE: You confirm that by uploading any content to The Rubicon Free Press you own all relevant rights to that content or have received the appropriate license to upload that content for publication.

Further, you confirm that your content may be legally and publicly displayed to a General Audience on The Rubicon Free Press.
